Originally established as a School of Science and Art in 1891, Buckinghamshire New University has been transforming lives for 130 years.
It offers an extensive portfolio of courses spanning the public sector with a particularly strong set of connections in the health sector including qualification courses in nursing, public health, social work, paramedicine and physiotherapy.
The University’s £100m High Wycombe Campus boasts a new, RIBA award-winning, building known as the Gateway, which includes a new library and a technology centre. And a ground-breaking collaboration with HP and Cisco – two of the world’s IT giants – resulted in one of the most advanced university student networks in the country.
The University takes student satisfaction very seriously. In the 2024 Office for Students National Student Survey, Buckinghamshire New University was ranked number one in the UK for student satisfaction and it was named by the Daily Mail as University of the Year for Student Support.
In 2023 the University was rated outstanding by the Office for Students for a highly stimulating experience for students, small class sizes, and a focus on practical and job related learning, using simulations and practical tasks.
The University also owns Missenden Abbey, a former Augustinian monastery founded in 1133, which the Centre for Health Communication Research uses as its postgraduate teaching base.
The University also has a a teaching base at the world-renowned Pinewood Studios where students learn the skills and knowledge they’ll need for the future, while studying right in the heart of this famous creative hub.
